Receiving your Heart Risk Snapshot results is a pivotal moment in your health journey. While the raw data might look like a complex radiology report, the core of the test is the Agatston Score - a measurement of the total area and density of calcium deposits in your heart's arteries.
At Everlab, we move beyond the raw number to help you understand what your score means for your specific biological age and long-term risk profile.
Understanding the Agatston Score
The most important part of your report is the numerical score. Here is the general framework used by cardiologists to categorise risk:
| Score | Plaque Burden | Heart Attack Risk |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | No identifiable plaque | Very Low (the "Power of Zero") |
| 1 – 10 | Minimal plaque | Low |
| 11 – 100 | Mild plaque | Moderate |
| 101 – 400 | Moderate plaque | Increased (Sign of active disease) |
| 400+ | Extensive plaque | High (Requires immediate clinical action) |
The Everlab Interpretation: Context is Everything
A "good" score is relative. A score of 100 might be expected for a 75-year-old, but it would be a significant red flag for a 35-year-old. When your results arrive, your Everlab practitioner interprets them through three lenses:
1. The "Power of Zero"
A score of 0 is the best possible result. It means no hardened plaque was detected. However, it doesn't mean you are "immune" to heart disease. It simply means you haven't developed calcified plaque yet. We use this result to confirm that your current prevention strategies are working.
2. Percentile Ranking
We look at where you sit compared to others of your same age and gender. If your score is 50, but that puts you in the 90th percentile (meaning 90% of people your age have cleaner arteries), we treat it with more urgency.
3. Integration with Biomarkers
This is where the Heart Risk Snapshot becomes truly powerful. We cross-reference your calcium score with your:
ApoB and LDL-C: To see if high cholesterol is actively "settling" into your artery walls.
LP(a): A genetic marker that can make plaque accumulate faster.
Inflammation markers (hsCRP): To see if the plaque you have is stable or "angry" and prone to rupture.
How You Will Receive Your Interpretation
You won’t have to Google your results to understand them. We provide a streamlined delivery process:
Email Notification: You will receive an email from an Everlab practitioner as soon as your analysis is ready.
Digital Integration: The report and insights are uploaded to your app.
Updated Action Plan: Your results will automatically trigger updates to your personalised protocols in the app, such as adjustments to your cardiovascular training intensity or preventative supplementation.
Next Steps After Your Score
If your score is 0: We focus on "primordial prevention" - keeping the score at zero for as long as possible.
If your score is >0: We shift to "aggressive management." This may involve more frequent testing, tighter control of blood pressure, or discussing lipid-lowering therapies to stabilise the plaque and prevent it from growing.
