Preparation for an Everlab CT Chest scan is straightforward and requires minimal lifestyle changes. Because we use a non-contrast protocol, you do not need to fast or undergo any blood tests prior to the appointment.
Before You Arrive
To ensure the process is as smooth as possible, please follow these simple guidelines:
Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. If possible, choose items without metal fixtures like zippers, hooks, or metal buttons.
Diet: You may eat and drink normally before your scan. There are no dietary restrictions.
Jewellery & Accessories: You will be asked to remove any metal objects, including jewellery, watches, glasses, and belts, as metal can interfere with the 3D imaging.
What to Expect at the Clinic
Please allow up to 1 hour for your total appointment time. While the scanning process itself is very fast, this window allows the clinical staff to prepare you properly and ensure we capture the highest-quality images.
Check-in: When you arrive at the imaging provider, check in at reception and mention that you are an Everlab member.
Preparation: You may be asked to change into a medical gown to ensure no hidden metal (like underwires or small clips) affects the scan.
The Scanner: You will lie flat on a motorised table that slides into a large, doughnut-shaped scanner. The machine is open at both ends, and most people do not feel claustrophobic.
During the Scan:
The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes.
You will hear whirring and clicking noises; this is perfectly normal.
The radiographer will be in a separate room but can see and speak with you via an intercom at all times.
You will be asked to hold your breath for 5–10 seconds at certain points to help the scanner capture clear, still images.
After the Scan
One of the benefits of the Everlab protocol is that there is no recovery time needed.
Immediate Resume of Activity: You can leave the clinic immediately after the scan and resume your normal daily activities, including driving and working.
Results: There is no need to wait for results at the clinic. Your images will be sent directly to the Everlab medical team.
Next Steps
Once your scan is complete, the interpretation phase begins. You don’t need to do anything else. One of our Everlab doctors will review the findings and contact you within a few days to provide your in-depth video walkthrough and personalised results via the Everlab app.
